Really nice shot but I feel it a bit flat but you were maybe after a low contrasy image.
Did a little fast edit
I ajusted the level so the shadow in the mouth is black etc.
Added a little more contrast to get more texture on the skin.

The low contrast was the target as you have guessed. High-key was the goal. But thanks for the comment. I am sure others will see it is not contrasty enough even for High-key.
