Apprarently its a Paper Wasp, dont those things sting? Had I known I may not have gotten so close

Great shot! Yes paper wasps do sting -over and over and over as they don't lose their stingers like some bees.

I think he is having a drink there too! Seen a few flies doing it, but never seen an insect holding the water in its mandables.
