Macro work... your thoughts?

Flies look really good! The jumpers needed more DOF.. F8 just doesn't cut it here IMO. Is there a reason you didn't shoot with a smaller aperture?

I'm honestly not sure why I didnt do a smaller aperture. I think I did so some but I dont think I had a good focus on them. It wasn't the most cooperative little guy.

I understand... I love shooting Jumpers (and Flies too!)! They can be frustrating sometimes... lol! Here are a couple of mine if you are interested:

I agree with Charlie on the DOF. I like jumpers a lot, but they are a PITA to photograph given their... jumpy nature lulz

thanks for all of your thoughts...best part is I shall find more.... this time keeping an eye on aperture and DOF. I wondering, and if anyone knows, how much extension tubes might improve some of my work. I understand the tubes wont improve it, I will with more practice, but am curious what I might be able to do with them

Tubes are great.. but master basic 1:1 first. Tubes complicate things.. less light, less DOF, etc....

I figured they would make things harder..... and I dont have the cash for them anyways, I was just curious. I will continue to practice and post.
