Making money without weddings or portraits?

I've been thinking of breaking into the porn industry... there's TONS of money to be made there.

I just have one thing standing in my way... my wife.

Sure, just make sure your 1d is "liquid" resistant.:sexywink:

but from what i understand, wildlife is a HARD place to make money because the uprfront cost is so major due to the quality and range of lenses you will need.

Heh, I almost swollowed my tongue when I saw the price of the 600mm F/4.

OMG $10000? WHAT, WHEN, HUH

ok enough of that!

When I grow up, I want to be just like Giuliano Bekor I'm sure he gets paid plenty.

Wedding photography doesn't have to mean boring formals, take a look at these two wedding photog sites...

Hoffer Photography • Philadelphia Wedding Photographer • Downingtown, West Chester, Exton, Lancaster, Chester County, PA • Modern Weddings and Portraits by Tony Hoffer

Hassas Photography

I think more photographers should advertise wedding pictures as having more fun and less formal. I mean I think there should always be those 5 regular shots. of the rings, the group shot, the cake cutting, blah blah blah but my photographer for my wedding asked me if I want a formal wedding book or not. So of the pics were very chaotic and funny and some were wierd but I thought they did a great job and got what the wedding was more about. Enjoyment of life.

Just think of that with a 2x TC.

(Sorry about the thread-jack, OP.)

Whoever said there's no money in porn is talking out their arse I'm afraid, the pr0n industry in America is (much) bigger than the video games industry, and that's saying something.

I've been trying to sell naked pictures of myself for weeks now and I've not had a single taker. I think you're mistaken.

If you take off the Cubs cap, you'll be able to market to the Sox fans also.

As far as the OP, I think the best thing you can do is look at the photographers out there and what they do. There are a lot that do weddings and portraits. But there are a small percentage that don't. Its just going to be tougher than if you keep your options open.

Some people may have a studio set up to make solid money (if there is a such thing in photography), and then do some freelance work on the side. That way you get your income, and still get to chase your true dream.

First you need to find an audience that is willing to pay for images.

BMX riders and fans are not the type to pay money for this.

Things like Weddings and formal Portraits pay good money because the client is willing to pay.
Stock photography ... it does pay but you have to have unique images that set you apart from all the others ... but not too extreme to be unusable in magazines. You have to generate a lot of images but it could payout.

Find a "rich man's" sport ... ie Polo, Horse Racing/Jumping/Showing, Dog Shows/Events ... etc, where the clients have money.
