I tried...

It's pretty hard to manually focus and set proper exposure with a non-AI telephoto film lens on a fast moving subject, but it's fun to do. After about 30 attempts, I chose these two.
I put it in Just For Fun instead of People because the pics could be better...

Nikon D5100, off-brand 135mm f/2.8 lens, at f/4, 1/400 sec, ISO 640 on an overcast evening about 7:30pm 6/11/14.

You should anticipate were the people are going to be. Focus on something not moving on the ground and re-compose. when they enter the frame, hit the shutter. That way, you can concentrate on other things that need attention.

Yes for skate parks its usually best to get in a sweet spot that the skaters normally like to do tricks and set up some zone focusing with a aperture around 8ish so you have a decent range to work with while still getting some nice dof on the background.

Then just shoot away.

Dont be shy they normally love their picks taken :)
