When I was married the last time, we each wrote our own vows.

I promised to love, honor and listen most of the time.
She promised not to smother me in my sleep except under extenuating circumstances.

We were married by a female judge who listened to a hurried whisper of what 'extenuating circumstances' might be and then said, in her court, that would be ruled suicide on my part.

So for 32 years I have slept wearing a football helmet with full face shield and a small tank of oxygen piped in to lengthen my odds.
