Medium Format: what developing process do you guys use??? help!

I've just gotten into medium format photography and have no room for a darkroom, but i want to be able to see the photos i take without having ot cough up a bunch of money. There is a local photo lab that develops the film. What process could i do, screening and scanning? What do i do if i want to figure out which photos i want prints of. I'm still getting used to shooting film so i want to be able to gauge my process without losing a bunch of money.

Film photography always costs money.

I will be developing my own B&W negs. Color is done by local lab.
I have a neg scanner, but I also know how to read a negative (this takes some experience).
