I was messing around late yesterday with my makeshift reflector shooting some flowers, after I was done with the flowers I decided to try it on the squirrels lol. They are always backlit late in the day at this feeder so I stood it up in a chair and waited.

It didn't take long for a model to come along!

C&C always welcome and appreciated :)

He picked up a seed on the way and stopped to check out the board, he was very curious!

He laid down to ponder the white board....

He decided it wasn't scary and even gave a grin between seeds :)

Oops looks like the first squirrel shot is crooked, I shall fix that... after coffee ;)

wow! very cool
Last shot is really nice. Really like the flowers too.

The first and last shot are very nice? What are you using as your reflector?

Thanks Rick and Snakeguy :)
I'm just using a big piece of white foam board until I get my real ones.

I'm curious...do you have a shot without the reflector to compare how useful it was?

Hey Ernicus, I do on the flowers, these are both straight exports of the raw files with and without. Not a huge difference but enough to make a difference after a little tweaking in PP. I'm really looking forward to playing more and really bouncing that light around :)

yup, I was more curious on the squirrel, lol. But yeah, I was wondering if it made a difference for you as it did me. Sometimes it's a huge difference...other times it's just enough to help a bit. ;-)

Ok apparently I lied lol I went through the set again and found this one, same settings but higher iso and no reflector.
It made a huge difference with the squirrels!

For comparison

Very nice. I was thinking it did, but could not tell in the pics, I don't have an eye for what kind of light was used in photos. Huge difference. another great tip proved worthy. cool stuff.

Thanks Rick and Snakeguy :)

The funny thing is that a lot of times a piece of white foam is the "real" reflector.

Or cardboard with tin foil. Whatever it takes.

Lol true Christian, something more portable than a huge foam board will be nice though ;)

Very nice! Flowers look good, although you have your subject centered! Squirrel shots are really lovely.. He must be used to you. Definitely not afraid! lol!

Judi, just a great set, both the flower and the squirrels. Like Charlie said, they're use to you, and don't feel threatened. Just some great shots as that squirrel is a natural in front of the camera.

More food for thought. Maybe I should order the reflector set when I order the diffuser.

As for the morning coffee, do you deliver? :lmao: :greenpbl:

I really like these. Way to go on the DIY technique. Much cheaper and produces pretty good results. I'll be using this as a motivator to use my Neewer more often.
