My wife has been wanting to get back to film lately. We have a pretty basic 7.1 mp Canon digital point and shoot that has served us well for the past several years, but she misses the whole experience of getting the film developed, flipping through the pictures, etc...

Long story short I'm looking for one to get her for xmas!

I've been doing very basic research, and most of the stuff I've found is way over my head technical. The most technical thing I've done to date is take macro shots of bugs on my porch, lol! I'm just looking for a good film camera that will offer basic functionality for my wife to easily point and shoot, but also offer some extended features for my expanding interest in photography.

Is the QTsi a good choice, if I am able to get one brand new for ~$200?

Is there a better choice? My budget can stretch to $300 or so if there are better options.

Thanks for your help!

If your looking for this camera, Amazon has it for $199. New. You do know this camera has been discontinued I would think.

I have an old Minolta srt 201 with a 50mm f1.4 rokkor lens. All manual, no batteries needed. You could get one for less than a $100. If you hunt a while you can get it for less than that.

With the maxxum I believe you could use newer minolta glass.

Thanks for the help. So far I haven't found anything to scare me off this model.
