Minor problem

Not sure if this is the right place to post but

So recently I just purchased a Nikon FM10 off ebay to start out for my photography class but what I failed to notice till only after I won the bidding is that the stock len's "name plate" (I believe that's what it is called) was missing. I know the lens isn't great but this bothers me as I am anal to these small things.

With that said, will not having that piece affect anything? anything i can do to compensate? will it have any problems putting on a lens hood w/o it? I tried looking for a replacement for that part online but so far no good can't find it.

It could let some dust in that normally would not get in. I am sure that you could find a replacement for it, but it would cost as much as another lens.
