Opteka problem

Hi - I have a Sony NEX-6 and recently purchased the cheap 650-1300 Opteka manual zoom lens - at first my camera wouldn't accept the lens until I went into the settings and changed how the camera dealt with non-powered lenses, but now I have a different problem: I cannot see anything through the lens finder and that corresponds to any photo I take - just blank. I've seen some online videos and they seem to show that you should not have any problem having the lens finder show the output, but so far no go. Any ideas?
