Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Its been awhile since I've been on the forum.
Its been awhile since I've taken any Photogenic pictures.

Anyway.

So I was working in the garage and cracked my lip open a little, I didn't realize it at first until I felt blood pool up.
I went to the bathroom to see the damage and stop it from bleeding, while doing that I noticed a drop of blood on the sink faucet and thought it might be a cool picture opportunity.
But I cleaned it up and the opportunity is gone.

Any missed photo opportunities you passed up?

btw, I know this might be a thread for the lounge section, but I posted it here forgive me.

No, don't be absurd. The Beginners is the proven dumping ground. Not a thing wasted here.

Back on topic:
There are plenty of photo ops that I miss, but I still log them into my brain. Later on, I should have a multitude of awesome photos. Don't get me wrong, I'm not slighting you in the least because I understand where you're coming from. My opinion is that in certain situations, the thought is well deserved to stew.

Photographing Tigran Hamasyan (Aratta Rebirth).

I wanted to kill myself for a week after that.

They played a show in NYC that Keith and I went to see... I knew the name of the venue so I checked the website for a camera policy. No mention of it either way. I did a mad google search (and this is why you don't trust everything google finds for you) and found the blog of someone who saw a show at that same venue. He stated in his blog that they had a "strict no camera policy".

So I decided, as much as it would suck, I would leave my camera at home, because it was a show I WANTED to see.

The next day we were getting ready to head out and I just had this *feeling*.

I decided to call the venue to find out if there really *was* a strict "no camera" policy.

No answer.

Called again.

No answer.

Called again.

No answer.

F*ck.

Well Keith and I were taking the train up to NYC, so it wasn't like I could take the camera back to the car if they wouldn't let me bring it in... so I had a decision to make. Take the camera, risk not being allowed into the venue because of it and miss the most amazing performance I have seen in my life to date? Leave the camera home.

I left my camera home.

And while we were there someone with a DSLR accompanied by someone with a video camera showed up.

I assumed they were from the venue or hired by Tigran.

Then another DSLR showed up.

Then another.

And some d*ck with a P&S USING HIS MOTHER F*CKING FLASH during the show.

Keith had to collect the knives off of the table so I didn't try to slit my wrists with them, because the way that the stage was set up, any place that I sat at, would have been a good view... but where WE *were* sitting... all I had to do was lean over a foot and my hand would have been on the back of Tigran's piano bench.

The show was so fantastic that for that small moment in time, I was able to ignore the fact that I didn't have my camera, even though this d*ck with a Nikon (that's not a hit against Nikons... ) was standing behind me CLICKING AWAY for the entirety of an 8 minute piece.

But on the train home... I wanted to just stand on the tracks.

And then when we GOT home, I wanted to drink some bleach.

For a week I wanted to just smash my camera under my car tires.

It was a depressing week.

:madass:

And yes, that's a dramatic reaction, I'm aware, but that's how I felt, and yes I know that probably 98% of you don't even know who Tigran Hamasyan is, but I didn't give a sh*t about that. It would have just meant a lot to *me* to be able to shoot that show on so many levels.

And I done f**ked it up, by not taking a chance.

Never again.

As an aside e.rose, I recently went to see The Blue Man Group for the 4th time. It was clearly stated on the website and profusely stated several times during the prelude to the event that photogrpghy (explicitly flash photography and video) was prohibited. Still some asswipes used flash photography and (phuqueing) cell phones to distract the rest of us. The show was brilliant, but when you pay $70 bucks a seat, a little respect is expected.

Yeah, that's annoying. :grumpy:

I was just so pissed, because apparently that place we were at *didn't* have a policy... and/or their policy changes depending on the artist performing. Had I been able to shoot that night, I would have stayed out of the way, as much as possible and *NOT* used flash. It was a Jazz gig... not a rock show where everyone is screaming their heads off. I would have had way too much respect for those musicians to even THINK about using flash. And I probably would have only shot during the first piece (although that would have been a good 8 - 10 minutes, if not more), because like I said, this was a show I *wanted* to *see*... so I would have put my camera down satisfied after that.

It was still a mind-blowing performance, and it was a, musically speaking, spiritual experience... but I'm still bitter when I think about the fact that I *could* have had my camera and I didn't. :(

e rose,
I don't think I've ever felt that kind of angst with missing a photo op. lol.
But that reminds me of other missed ops in my life with things unrelated that I've felt that kind of angst, but I wont go into that.

The old saying........

It's better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Or something like that.

I never thought I *would* ever feel that kind of angst in relation to a missed photo op. It's not fun. This happened back in the beginning of February, and every time I think about it in detail, my blood pressure rises and I get angry and depressed all over again. :er:

::Le sigh::

Haha, I KNOW! And if it were ANYONE ELSE... I would have DONE just that. But I was so afraid of not being able to see Tigran because of having my camera with me, that I didn't take the risk. And now I SERIOUSLY, seriously regret that.

Don't try this in the Sistine Chapel. Them thar' Catholics aren't real good on the forgiveness part. haha

I'm missing one right now. I was invited to a magazine party ( I shoot for them a bit) tonight and there's going to be three bands. The publisher has asked me to come out to these things to shoot them for her in the past but I've yet to go. I was really planning to go tonight but I'm just too tired from work. And parties are not my thing. I would have loved to get some tasty shots of the band in action, though. Oh well, next time.

I missed one today, There was a wild horse grazing right next to the river. I guess it didn't see the gator chilling there and the gator jumped up at the horse, horse freaked out and ran, gator freaked out at went back in the water. Sadly, I was taking pictures of a horse about 10 meters down the river.... I failed miserably... Maybe I'll get another chance at it next time I'm out there.

When I was there, I put a piece of black tape on the Record light (video). Done and dusted, I got everything I wanted.

I've missed lots of things, but mostly wild animals.

On the flip-side, how many times have you missed something because you were trying to take a picture of it? That's happened a few times to me.
