It's not pretty -- it's a working river. Walked this morning along the River Front Trail and grabbed a few snaps as I went.
First photo the David Bangert is a harbor work boat. In the background you can see the Andrew Cannava pushing a load of empties into the canal headed for the lock.
Second photo is the Merchants Bridge built by the St. Louis Merchants Exchange in 1889. The 2nd and 3rd bridges to cross the Mississippi are both in St. Louis and both still in daily use. The Eads bridge is 155 years old and this bridge is 135 years old.
Third photo is an ADM grain depot and the fourth photo is looking south toward the McKinley Bridge -- the rusty pipes are the remnants of some long ago structure. Fuji X-T2 w/18-55mm
