Forty odd years ago I moved to St. Louis and soon enough drove over the McKinley Bridge. I was struck by the view from the bridge of the industrial hellscape watched over by the Holy Trinity (church) and thought, I've got to get some photos of that. Alas upon investigation I discovered there was no pedestrian access to the bridge and eventually gave that one up. Then recently looking for places to go for a morning walk I was looking at a map of the Great Rivers Greenway and there was a bike trail over the bridge! They put it in some years ago and didn't tell me. It's the old railroad that used to cross on the bridge. So today I walked to Illinois and back and finally got some of those photos.
