Mojor Dust Problem!

Haha! Nooo, there wasn't someone shovelling gravel. It was some guy with a mouth full of saltine crackers, who happened to sneeze just as i took the lens off. :lmao:

The camera does a self cleaning every time i turn it on and off, the spots are still there. I wonder when it does do the vibration cleaning, where does the dust fall to? If you move around, wont it just float back onto the sensor?

I'm not sure I would use a qtip on the sensor. I dont want cotton fuzz to be stuck to it as well. I think it would be easy to clean too with all these kits that are out. I would probably try that if I had owned the camera for years, but its only been months.

Gonna bring it to the canon service centre today. I'll let you all know how the service is!

Just got off the phone with Canon. They said the sensor cleaning will be free of charge, and will take only 2-3 business days.

The worst part of all this is that I just got a new lens and havent been able to use it yet! Its killing me!

is this a good idea? would there be any issues of scratching the sensor or getting lint on it? im thinking of trying it out...

i guess the previous owner of my camera liked using the sensor as a dinner plate

Ha! I dont know if its a good idea. There are swabs you can buy that are specific to sensor cleaning. But i guess Dubious didnt have any problems with the Qtip, so its up to you to try.

I dropped my camera off at Canon monday afternoon, and it was shipped back to me priority by wednesday totally free of charge.

Check your blower

i had the same thing. i had a cheap blower i was cleaning with,
and it was blowing dust, and tiny rubber specks all over it.

it looked pretty similar to yours,
after 2 days of googling sensor cleaning i did it myself with some lens tissues, cleaning fluid and a pencil.

.. and it worked flawlessly

Check your blower

and it was blowing dust, and tiny rubber specks all over it.

Was your blower blue? brand was Hakuba? I've found thats exactly what was causing the problem. it is this rubbery powder on the outside of the blower that is sticky. I've since washed it and no more problem. The blower was brand new, dont know how this stuff got on it?
