Most days this winter were grey overcast. That with the lack of growing plants results in a general lack of colour. These two pictures feature a monochrome appearance. Both were taken on Feb 3, 2019 at around 15:50 using my OM-D EM10 with 40-150 4-5.6 zoom. This was a practice run to see the results with autofocus and IBIS but without my usual monopod, and with most target distances past 100M.
On this overcast day the camera in "Program mode" was choosing exposure times of around 1/250th sec. which I felt could be a bit risky, and with ISO bouncing around 500. In retrospect, I think I should force a shutter speed of around 1/500th sec. and let the ISO and aperture "float". Also, I "disagreed" with the touch screen spot focus result often, so I think I should practice more with the manual focus override.

This picture was so monochrome that I added a touch of saturation. I didn't add much -- just enough to let your eye detect a bit of brown in the small piece of ice in the foreground. The odd texture of the ice and snow behind it look like waves that have been instantly frozen in place.

This picture was converted to monochrome. I wanted to bring out the dark trees nearest the water on the far bank. In colour, they were lost in the cloud of small branches surrounding them and behind them. I adjusted the gamma to give enough separation but hopefully, without pushing it to the point of looking posterized.
