monopod type

looking to get a new one....which type is best....screw type or clamp. I have a clamp one know and like the ease of the adjustment with a flick of a wrist to open a close.

does one last longer??

I have both and both work just fine.

I think it's just a matter of choice and which one you like most.

I like the screw type myself as I can adjust it quickly while in the process of using it ... at least for me.
But then, I guess I could use the same technique for the clamp type as I use my smaller tripod (clamp) as a monopod from time to time.

It's really a user preference thing for the most part. Both will work well so its really a case of if you prefer clamps or screw design to work with.

The important thing is that you get one strong enough for what you want it to hold, which means ideally you want one rated for a weight limit heavier than what you're going to use (now and in the future if you've any heavier lenses you might want to get). Weight limits are only a rough value so be wise and get a rating for more than you need; that way you know it will be secure.
