Moody flowers (practicing PP)

I tried to make this one stand out a bit through some PP work.. sharpened a bit, dropped the shadows a bit, which brought out the flowers more, also dropped the luminance on all greens in the photo, which worked out nicely I think.

Pre-PP photo is first, then post-PP after that.

The flowers themselves are a little nicer in #2, but overall the image is too dark. Look at the image as a whole; the subject (the lilac bloom) takes up only a very small part of it, with a large amount of soft green 'nothing'. I think this image would have been much improved by zooming more closely on the bloom itself.
Just my $00.02 worth - your milage may vary.

Ahh, good point. Maybe some cropping would've done some good here.
