Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hello all,

i recently purchased some flashes and triggers and gave them a go over the weekend.

This was my first time using off camera flash so please, all criticism is most definitely welcome. So don't hold back.

Also if there is another way to throw my photographs out for CC instead of starting a new thread each time i would love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance

first off: the lightning looks good in all of them. I'm not an expert, but there are IMO no really big flaws, that the untrained eye (like mine) can spot easily. Now, for the photos:

#1: It's a nice portrait, but a little boring. I like the white background and the DOF, but it just hasn't got something to it that makes me stop scrolling down and want to look at it. And you cut off her head.

#2: Same thing as in #1. Decent picture, there's just nothing that wants me make to stop and look.

#3: this is the best photo of the batch IMO. The lightning and the colors look spot on for me. It might be a little cliché, but you pulled it off nicely.

I like how you caught the light in the eyes in #1 and #2. It makes the eyes sparkle. However, I think that the background is too white in #1, and the shadows are too heavy on #2.

#3 is outstanding to me.

#2 could have benefited from having some more light on her, maybe from a reflector/white card... it's good though. Maybe you can brighten her up in post and leave the background alone? Butterfly necklace matches the one on the window, nice touch.

#1 - I've taken pictures of my daughter similar to this and the same thing bugs me: The hair (on the right side of the picture) is blurred and back lit and I personally find it distracting against the white.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

hadn't noticed the darkness of no2, but now that you mention it can definitely see it.

will try some more over the easter weekend.

Thanks again.

IMO, I think the angle you are photographing this girl is unflattering. Girls that have a little more meat on their bones benefit from a higher camera angle. I think that shooting into her flabby neck area shows her in an unflattering light. Whenever I create a portrait, I try to fool the eye by focusing on direction of chin, turning the body, whatever I can do to make them look better than they do in real life. That way when they see these images of themselves, the feel so good and buy a lot!! Just my 2 cents.

Fantastic feedback. That is exactly the kind of criticism that i am after!

Thanks Templatephotoshop!!

really like # 3

A picture that tells a story is always a good picture and number 3 does that; ironically, telling a story is what the story is about. ;)

Thanks for the kind words all.
