More Cory

Tried out some a bit different, playing on the harsh lighting with hard body. A little grunge-ish / dark low key sorta thing. Also put a piece in there for body/art sort of thing. Then a couple regulars at the bottom.

BW are the best and the arms up pose doesn't work but the first is the best IMO.

Yeah, he needs to work on his double bi pose anyway...so it did not translate well.

He's not a model by any means, but he did rather well, and followed instructions well. My bigges issue with him was his scrunching his forehead...I tried and tried to advise on how not to do it...but it's just something he'll need to work on if he wants to shoot more/model. Which he showed interest in doing down the road.

The lighting is good, but that one-eyed look is unappealing to me...very unappealing. The lighting does show his physique off pretty well. On most of these it seems that the camera height is too high, and is looking down on him, from a bit above the brow-line, making him look LESS-powerful and less-imposing than he would otherwise appear. Almost as if a very tall man had photographed a shorter, muscular man. Exceptions to this camera height issue would be the two close-up shots, which were shot from a much lower vantage point relative to the figure shown. It's subtle, but I can sense that the camera height is impacting the final rendering. The first one looks kinda like a Ralph Lauren underwear advertisement, what with his pants hanging down off his waist like a gangbanger or whatnot, and the Ralph Lauren underwear brand visible in the shadows.

Cory is 6'3 and i'm 5'10 So I dunno how it got that perspective at all.

actually I do know now that I reflect. This is from the folder of the images I shot from behind...meaning another photog...so further back than I normally would.

I had an assistant there who wanted to learn studio lighting and working with a male model so I let her shoot a bit, she only has women in her shots and she's really new. This series is shots I took while sitting back watching and advising...and I'd snap one now and then when I thought it looked like it would make a good shot. I love remote flash triggers. lol.

So I am guessing that is what gave the perspective difference.

all of the shots where I am front center he is higher than me and I struggled a few times not getting the ceiling or top of my backdrop in the shot.
