I call this the mother of all hornets. It was crawling around on a bush in my front yard. I was not flying around, and was quite docile. Here are a few of the shots I took of it, one on my gloved hand.

3. There was a second hornet that flew in and landed on the larger hornet on my sidewalk. Here it is flying in.
