Fantastic. I would love to get shots like that. I had an otter on the ice yesterday afternoon but he went into the lake and the only shots I could get was his head out swimming along the edge of the ice. Last year one was using our hill on the front yard as a slide. I could see the snow impression but missed the actual activity. Wish I had seen that.

They certainly do like sliding on their bellies. I spend a lot of time at this location (when the ice is gone) and although it is common to see otters, they are usually swimming and you only see the head. The family I found the other day came out on the ice in front of me and started posing. I've never seen anything quite like it. Unfortunately it was very dark - all photos were at ISO 6400.

I am going to spend a lot of time at the pond over the next week or two. It has refrozen and it may be difficult for the otters to get out and play. As the shoreline thaws there may be more opportunities to see them venture on to the ice.
