Late winter hikes are always interesting and most often refreshing.
The little step over creek, will be a shallow water step into creek in a couple of weeks, when the snow melts and the spring rains start. Never very deep but often muddy, by mid June it will be a bone dry, graveled, shallow depression in the path.
Who knows if the tree made a sound when it fell? But ice and wind play no favorites.
