Mosaic

Had about 6 hours of daylight to wander downtown Des Moines yesterday, so I headed for the capitol and took the tour. There was a particular piece of art that, from the main floor, I didn't realize was a glass mosaic. But on the tour we walked right past it and I fell in love with the textures in the glass. After the tour, I made my way back to and and of course chopped the hell out of it with my camera. For me it was more about the texture in the glass tiles than the overall images.

The second is nice, but the OOF areas in the first don't work for me. I guess in pattern shots like this I like to see the whole thing in focus so I can really get lost in it - others may disagree, but that's my two cents ...

I like the first shot and the DOF. Seeing those strong textures fade out like that is very artistic and flattering.
