Hey QJ, I really like the second one nice capture!
The first one my eye hunts around a lot, I think perhaps getting down lower and bringing the horizon down so it is less prominent and becomes secondary to the horse may have worked better here.

Thanks Pixel. I agree, I really like the concept, but I can't help but feel that the photo comes off as a little distraction. I'll try to keep this in mind the next time! Thanks

Center frame and high contrast, the white peak in 1 draws the eye , the white tanks on the right side are also a distraction. I think you used the high contrast of the white nose in 2 to your advantage, I find it is a natural landing spot for the eye...

In the 1st picture try cropping out at least 75% of the sky will make a big difference. Unfortunately, the background is in near focus and has way too many elements that directly compete with the horse, your main subject. You need to pay as much attention to the foreground and background when composing your pictures.
