Movie Review: Zero Dark Thirty

Loooong. Some interesting parts intermixed with lots of "political thriller wanna-be" interactions. It's worth seeing if you're into that kind of thing.
Also, remember that this is NOT a true story, it's BASED ON a true story (they've admitted to changing things for a better movie) so please don't walk away from this one thinking that this is what happened.

In any event, if you have 17 hours to spare go and give it a shot, or wait for it to come out. There is very little in this movie that 'must be seen on the big screen'.

Same thing could been said for the hurt locker. Bigelow could cut 30 mins from all her movies.

You could be right. I liked The Hurt Locker a lot, though, so I could be selectively-forgetting any boring bits.

Being in the military makes it hard for me to watch movies like those. Everytime I see a mistake that could've been prevented if more research was done. Hurt locker was nice however.

I've read Manhunt: The Ten-Year Search for Bin Laden, I'm curious to see how different the movie really is from reality.

What do you mean that there's only 17 hours to see it?

The 17 hours was a joke about how long the movie feels. Its nearly three hours as it is, but still feels much longer.

Yeah it was...underwhelming. I knew it was musical. I didn't the entire thing was an opera. Anne Hathaway was great in it but I really didn't understand why everyone thought it was "THE GREATEST MOVIE EVAR OMG!"

The trailer did an excellent job of hyping it up though, heh.

I should have saved my money and rented Moulin Rouge instead (kidding...sort of...). I guess I'm not cultured enough to appreciate modern masterpieces as much as everyone else. Lol

IMO The Hurt Locker was a really foolish movie. It's funny because in that movie they make the infantrymen look incompetent, and EOD look like Special Forces. In the 'real world' it's exactly the opposite, Infantrymen do the work for EOD to come in and disarm bombs, or blow them up.

I don't see how releasing the photos of Bin Laden is of a National Security and yet releasing a movie on military tactics/technology is not...

If the pictures are released you know who is going to riot. They will burn their cars, work areas, gas stations, break countless windows and blame America and its' people for it.

IMO they already hate us, so it's not like releasing the photos is going to make it any worst/better. They will, and always will see us as the enemy. IMO the American people deserve to see the pictures after what he did...IMO it gives closure.

I'm more concerned with the technology and tactics being revealed for everyone to see.

I agree with you 100%. We all know they would find any excuse to go crazy and kill more people.

IMO the info about the seals shouldn't been released. We didn't even need to know that it was seal team 6 that did it, only that we got him. I think the movie was designed as a tool to help him with his reelection.

I haven't the movie yet, but again I agree with you about what's being shown in the movie.
