Photos NOT OK to edit
Haven't really shot to much lately, but over the holiday weekend there was a car cruise, so I hung out of my friend's sunroof and window taking some rolling shots. Think next time I'll try a lower shutter speed for better background blur. This is the 2nd time I've shot rolling shots.

I think you are right about the lower shutter speed but then you run into the problem of getting blur in the car. A lot of these are done by a combination of panning and shutter speed to capture the car and blur the background.

Of course you could mask out the car and motion blur the background.

I'll keep the panning in mind for next time, and look up how to properly pan. Thanks for the info.

Most of the car you are making a photo of should be moving very little relative to your camera, so you don't need to pan the camera.

Yes, using a slower shutter speed should help make the background blurry, but as you change to a slower shutter speed you will also have to make the lens aperture smaller to have the same exposure.

A key element to making a rolling shot work is using a shutter speed that still lets the wheels and tires be blurred.

A lot of rolling shots, particularly those from a low camera angle, are done at walking speed using a shooting rig.
