I think longer exposure would be better to obtain smoother waves. You could also do some post-processing and change the colour and tones a bit, especially the rocks, they look boring.
It is quite overexposed. The white in the top part of the photo is way blown out. The most interesting part of this shot is the graffiti on the rock to the left, and I think if you got closer to it, the rock could be an interesting subject. I must agree with Peacock that the photo is generally not too appealing. Try different angles to create a more dynamic shot.
Here's a quick edit:
- image is multiplied in at 64%
- Recovery for lost detail in the branches (almost got some blue back)
- sharpened for foreground detail
Second the motion on a longer exposure, grab a tripod and throw your rig on it, in that kind of light maybe 15 or 20 seconds at F22. might want to invest in a shutter release cable (20 or 30 bucks) after all is said and done you can create some really neat little effects with moving water.
A shot like this, of trees and foliage with bright light in the background is a tough shot for any camera to take.
The point of your view is very good; this image demands a high depth of field, by choosing small aperture like f/11. Since the light is brilliant the chances of over exposure is high; so a fast shutter is needed; very small aperture + long shutter delay can convert scattering crystalline water to smooth silky form(personally i don't like this silky images at all-probably they are much used as cover pictures of school note books.. hehehe...
