I have a number of Multiblitz Profilux studio flash heads, purchased many years ago. They were all supplied with the item in the photo, a flat plate with two holes, one small and one large which were supplied fitted to the knob that attaches the clamp to the tripod post. Pictures below. Does anyone know the function of these plates? It is not explained anywhere in the Multiblitz literature

Multiblitz plate - what is this for?

Plate in the factory fitted position - free to rotate around locking knob shaft

I am asking out of pure curiosity!

Looks like a cable support.

The hole is too small for the mains lead to pass through, the synch lead would probably fit but does that make sense? I would have thought securing the mains lead was more important

Porsche Design emergency beer bottle opener? Just a guess...I'd buy one!

My research indicates that its unimportant and useless, IOW ignore and forget aboudit.

Evidence attached below. Notice that even with both cables hooked up the plate is not involved. None of the user manual diagrams include or reference the plate.

I have finally determined the purpose of the item. It is for the attachment of a safety wire when the flash units are attached to a suspended lighting track or overhead mount a wire is looped through the larger hole and around the track or overhead mount so that if for some reason the lamp becomes detached the wire will prevent it's falling to the ground
