Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I'm curious as to how many people listen to music while taking photos? I am into having chilled beats while I take photographs but have always wondered if others do the same. If you do listen to music while taking photos, what kind and why? I find that ambient beats typically help me work at a steady pace that allows for more time concentrating on the shot and less time worrying about the "problems". Oh and for anyone cusious...this is what ambient beats are...

Music, for the most part, gives my brain something to get distracted by so I don't fry a circuit overanalyzing anything.

It seems to help. For me it's mostly Bluegrass and Hot Club jazz.

Me? Hard and Alternative Rock. AC/DC, Linkin Park, Lostprophets, There For Tomorrow, etc... I get so into the music, I end up taking pictures without thinking too much, and I don't possibly miss a shot because I was fumbling with the settings on my old full manual camera, which makes it a bit tougher. Bu yeah, it helps me.

Yes. When I'm working alone.

So far my photographic playlist consists of Muse, Mute Math, Pomplamoose and Tigran Hamasyan.

I've tinkered with the idea of investing in some sort of portable player for location shoots with other people (::gasp!:: I'm sure someone will jump on me for that being a no-no or something), but music relaxes me and puts me in the zone right away... and if *I'M* relaxed, then I'll have an easier time relaxing my subject. Although, if I were to do that, I'd allow my subject to choose the musical content to their liking. I did that once when i was shooting indoors near an iPod dock... it worked out pretty well. :lmao:

Decemberists fan here! Going to see them in April!
Also Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Buffet...

RUSH is fantastic if you need a little kick in the butt to get going...

I don't listen to music while shooting. I want to make sure I can hear when a bear sneaks up behind me in an attempt to steal my camera!

Does anyone find that the music you listen to affects the outcome of the pictures? Maybe like the mood of the music sets the tone for the mood of the shots you take type thing? I notice this happen once and I make sure that the music does not become an issue after realizing the dark moody music I was listening to made me begin searching for darker photos to capture.

HAHA Bitter, I do know that feeling for sure. I was in the woods the other day shooting, about to grab my headphones, when it occured to me that mountain lions and wolves are roaming a lot more now that the weather is warming up. Moose too. So I skipped on the headphones for that particular shoot.

I'll pick the music I'm listening to sort of compliment the mood I'm going for.

My default are the ones that I listed just because they just help me focus and pump me up but don't really affect the outcome, but if my intention is to shoot moody images, I'll listen to something moodier.

Although that whole thing is sort of void when I'm working with someone else because I'm not listening to the music as intently as I would be if I were by myself, when I'm working with someone else, because I'm talking to them and interacting with them... so whatever they want to listen to is fine and it won't affect me. Chances are their tastes in music are different from mine, so I'm not even familiar enough with (or even if I am, I'm not a fan of it) their music for it to impact me.

Generally not while shooting--I'd get too distracted, personally. However, I'll throw on some music to get me into the mood for editing (that seems to be where I really need the motivation, anyways!). Pretty much anything on my computer's fair game, but I usually end up listening to Minus the Bear at some point :)

I'm always shooting with music... being at the clubs and what not, haha. So it's almost awkward for me to shoot in silence because I'm so used to shooting with SOME kind of music happening... whether or not it's something I LIKE is a different story... but I'm rarely shooting in silence.

I don't while shooting. My wife is my reluctant packmule/assistant/keeper-of-snacks so I'm never alone while out shooting.

Editing is a different story. My iTunes is usually on shuffle, but my overall music of choice is metal/industrial and it's various offshoots. Little Nine Inch Nails mixed with Pain, As I Lay Dying, Hypocrisy, etc. etc.

I like to listen to some Korn

Some Rob Zombie

and sometimes some Lamb of God

Every once in a blue moon I'll listen to some N.E.R.D.S. but I have to be in the mood...
