Music and Photography?

i do likes to listen to music when i shoot. usually lamb of god, after the burial, animals as leaders type stuff...sometimes ill stray off that path and hit up some aphex twin, or even bjork to get into the zone.

if im shooting a model, i usually let them make the selection.

music pumps me up. gets my gears turnin.

I have never actually considered listening to music, will have to try it.

Being a photographer and a drummer in a band music is just as important to me as photography, but never the twain shall meet! I have tried it, but I found that each one distracted me from the other and I couldn't properly enjoy either.

Also, as my main passion is nature photography, trying to find birds/animals with music blasting in my ears is nigh on impossible, I need to hear birds calling and rustles in the bushes!

The last shoot i was listening to Black Country Communion

SrBiscuit, Aphex Twin is pretty wicked stuff, straight up. He is a musical genuis of his time and probably will remain an influence on music for a long time to come.

I always listen to music. It helps me focus.

Regards,
Jake

I don't mind Aphex Twin, I have Selected Ambient Works by him and I listen to it sometimes. For beats though, I prefer more abstract and trippy.

Flying Lotus, the Flashbulb, 65daysofstatic, etc. But I rarely stray from the instrumentals.

**** yeah, I AAS live with El Ten Eleven. All great choices, White. Too bad GY!BE broke up.

Yeah I listened to the song you posted, pretty cool and very trippy. A bit much for my taste but then again I eat chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and choco sprinkles too. In other words, crazy amounts of change are a bit too much out of sync for me. I did enjoy that sample though.

Not usually, but if i were listening to anything it would prolly be some Deftones.

I don't usually listen to music while out, although I have been considering getting an mp3 player. Not sure what I would take. My shooting time (unless an event or specific job ) is my quiet alone time, so it would probably be something like classical or music soundtrack type stuff ( not musicals, I mean like emotive instrumental strings type stuff ) I have the Jurassic Park soundtrack, along with the Forest Gump suite, and of course, to no surprise, my favorite, The Goonies score.
However, when editing, I always listen to music. Currently I am bouncing around between Don Henley " The Very Best of", John Mayer "Battle Studies" and "Room for Squares" , Tears for Fears "Gold" and Avenged Sevenfold "Avenged Sevenfold". I have 7079 songs though, so I bounce around a lot, just depends on my mood or whether I get sick of something.

If you like scores, Brian Eno is good but you probably already know that. Also, the Book of Eli score is for real but don't blame me if your shots start coming off as dark and spooky. The music is awesome. Oh and we can't forget the K-Pax score which is my all time favorite tied with Gladiator.

Book of Eli was shot very well and a cool movie. I did like the soundtrack in the movie, but not sure if I would like all of it for shooting. I did remember another awesome one although it has vocals and all which I was kinda leaning away from, "Into the Wild" by Eddie Vedder which was a great movie and a great soundtrack......
