My 383 won't fire...

I've attatched my 383 Super to the hotshoe of my K1000, but when I press the shutter release, the flash doesn't fire. It works when I throw it on my XTi. I'm thinking maybe the shoe is bad?

Well, if it works on the XTi, then the problem has to be the K1000. Try cleaning the hot shoe contact with a pencil eraser. (even if it looks clean)
