Every year, the wife and I do a picture together to signify another year together. Last year was a simple shot on our porch of new house, this year is a shot with my newly acquired soft box.

Happy anniversary! Our 4 year is fast approaching as well. Looks like a nice image to me.. the only things that bother me are the dark shadow on the one side of her face, particularly being so dark on the cheekbone.. and then it seems hot on her legs.

Totally agree with you, the dark cheekbone thing bothers me b/c it looks like a bruise. I don't see that on my monitor at home and on the local hard drive, for some reason it did something weird when uploaded to flickr. Glad I'm not the only one noticing that.

Very nice pose in #1. Now that you have that softbox, you can start saving up for a backdrop.

Aside from the cluttered background and foreground, I think this could be better if you had elevated the 'box so as to get more of the light on your faces, and less on her knees.

I do like the back flash in #2, but you still need more separation between the subjects and the background.

Happy anniversary. You guys are a cute couple.

Now on to the picture criticism. You need a second light or a white reflector to bounce back the light. Too much shadows on the right. A back light might be helpful to separate you and the background and to create more dimensions.
