Here are two quick shots I took. I like them but of course this is my baby so i am not very impartial. Technique wise waht do you guys think?

The first photo - the bright colors at the bottom of the photo pulls my eye to them instantly. Then it takes a moment for me to refocus back on the subject which isyour munchkin.

The second photo - bottom left corner of the picture you have a white reflection which is covering the hand. Don't know what it is, but get rid of it.

you are right i hadn't seen the reflection... tnx

You need to study your settings and learn from them, just because your lens will go to F1.8 dosn't mean you have to use it for every shot, second shot was iso800 1/1600

Cute kid. Both seem to be really noisy hints the iso of 800.

Sweet baby. I'm not sure what sort of shot you are going for, but if this was a thought-out session as opposed to a spur of the moment thing I would suggest the following:

~Try to get Baby looking at you or at least in your general direction. Shots with wide-open eyes seem to be most attractive overall, but you may have to wait around a while to catch that - try blowing lightly on his face to see what happens.
~Focus on the eyes - always. Ideally you want them tack-sharp or as close to that as possible and catching the light (not in the shadows).
~Try in front of a bright picture window in the morning - if you can get that really bright indirect light on him, it will make a big difference in the clarity/quality of the shot.
~Dress him in either the plainest clothing possible (naked or white onesie for example) or consciously dress him in something that will suit the mood of the shot - block colors work well, for example.
~Keep everything else that might be distracting/clutter out of the shot - toys, etc.
~Focus on the eyes. I said it before, but it's that important!
