#1.. watch your foregrounds....that branch under your dog is distracting. Get down on his?? level.. with good eye contact. Crop tighter... unless the background helps to tell the story. This one doesnt.. just dead space.
#2 shoot vertically for shots like this... don't cut off body parts...

I think whats more distracting is the shadows the dog is making.
And I agree with previous poster. Get down to his level. When you
cant get the entire body in the frame try for just the head.
