I think #2 is great, no suggestions for that one.
I like that you got down on the pooch's level for #1, but it feels like there is too much blurry floor in the foreground....I think a tighter crop would help.

can i ask on the boarders, do you have something that automates that part? i would hate to have to add them to 200+ images by hand after a weekend of shotting.

The only thing you can do is to create a batch in Photoshop.
