Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Have been previously told mixed reviews on leaving lens flare in photos?
Whats your view? Also, what could I have done better- While it is my favourite photo, I understand no photo is perfect and would love to get some critique?

That flare spot is a killer ... especially since it has an X in the middle.
I don't think any viewer will be able to pull their eye away from that target.

Ignoring that ... I would be tempted to crop the bottom ... but just my opinion.

So there is less foreground you mean?
Ok great to know!
I have had two people tell me they hate lens flare (like this one) and one that doesn't, next time I will remove it for sure.
I guess I have weird taste lol

Nice photo but the first thing I saw was the flare!
It ruins the photo so much!
I thought it was a jelly fish, then how come it is flying in mid-air.
well, you see how I am describing the flare because I couldn't take my eyes off.

So much better!
Being familiar with the flare spot, I can see the pattern that you duplicated with those three small green rocks. ;)
Better clone it a second time, but with introducing a further pattern.
Now I can focus on the wonderful scene.
Well done!

Do you have a filter on your lens?

Shooting into the sun is tough. If you can get rid of lens flare with PP then do it unless you like the flare. Next time try a grad ND or HDR. And if not, your photo is still a keeper.

Good luck!

It's tough because many times there is not much in the foreground. What Im referencing is the argument in my mind I'm having of more sky vs more foreground. Put the horizon in top 1/3 or bottom 1/3. Usually I'll do both and decide in post.

the flare is an easy one for me, I don't care for flares, in any pictures. just my preference though.

It is a cool shot and a nice place to shoot. Nice job.

Nice composition, and the edit with the lens flare removed is just that much better then the original.

As O Tyler asked, did you have a filter on the lens, or did you in post production darken the sky which looks just too blue. That blue cast covers the mountains and most of the water. Only the extreme foreground doesn't seem to have that blue hue.

It was a really beautiful sunny day in Queenstown.
I think the colouring is mainly luck,
I didn't have a filter on my lens (except a protector)
If you take a look at Queenstown photos you will see what I mean- Its just such a beautiful place.
Plus, I think the major contrast between the water/sky and foreground is the fact that I was 5028ft above the water!!!! :)

I thought I recognised the lake - Wakitipu - although I've probably spelled it wrong. I was there April 08. Beautiful, beautiful place. This is one I took there with my first DSLR:

So you had a filter? Meaning, another piece of glass attached to your lens.

UV (or "protective filters") are a bad idea, especially when you are recording direct light. Your lens is a lot tougher than you think; leave the filter off next time.
