So there is less foreground you mean? That flare spot is a killer ... especially since it has an X in the middle.
I don't think any viewer will be able to pull their eye away from that target.
Ignoring that ... I would be tempted to crop the bottom ... but just my opinion.
It was a really beautiful sunny day in Queenstown.Nice composition, and the edit with the lens flare removed is just that much better then the original.
As O Tyler asked, did you have a filter on the lens, or did you in post production darken the sky which looks just too blue. That blue cast covers the mountains and most of the water. Only the extreme foreground doesn't seem to have that blue hue.
I thought I recognised the lake - Wakitipu - although I've probably spelled it wrong. I was there April 08. Beautiful, beautiful place. This is one I took there with my first DSLR:It was a really beautiful sunny day in Queenstown.Nice composition, and the edit with the lens flare removed is just that much better then the original.

I think the colouring is mainly luck,
I didn't have a filter on my lens (except a protector)
If you take a look at Queenstown photos you will see what I mean- Its just such a beautiful place.
Plus, I think the major contrast between the water/sky and foreground is the fact that I was 5028ft above the water!!!!
