My First Bee!

I finally got my first opportunity to photo a bee! I know it certainly doesn't compare to other insect macros on here, but what are some thoughts? I think the focus was a bit off, maybe. I was trying to focus on the eyes, but it seems the wings are more in focus. All in all, I'm pleased for my first insect macro, but please, harsh criticism is appreciated! How else will I learn?

If this is your first try on macro, I would say it is great! Just need to practise more and share.

Thanks for the encouragement! I tried to photograph some more insects while on my hiking trip to Punchbowl Falls. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to do with a 40 pound boy riding in a backpack on your back at the same time. None of them were even close to worthwhile. Oh well. I'll keep trying!

Not bad for your first attempt! One thing to really pay attention to is the direction of your light, it looks like it is coming from over the bees shoulder and lighting his bum most. Have it more behind you instead so it lights its face
