What's new

My first c&c request.

1. It is blurry. Only a snapshot. If she stopped and posed, then it would have potential.

2. It is underexposed- her eyes are too dark. Not blurry but not very sharp. Another snapshot. Needs some post processing.

Here's a quick edit I did. This is what I did: Brighten/sharpened eyes, Brightened picture, added contrast, smoothed out skin, added clarity, and of course made black and white.

I like the first one more as I like rich&enhanced colors in pics. The second one is not appealing to me but you have so much potential and you're definitely headed in the right direction with your work. I hope to see more in the near future. :peacesign:

Well, the first image looks like she is about to trip over. There is way too much contrast. The composition is good though.

The second image needs a wider aperture so that you can fix the underexposure, and add more blur to the background. I don't mind her head being cut off, but maybe the image would look better if it was wider.

sobolik: here is a quick edit off of the original image, using your advice. I don't have Elements, so I'm not familiar with "correct color for skin tone". Do the skin tones have a bit too much of a red tone to you? I run a dual flat screen set-up on my pc, and my older monitor shows the skin tones with more red toning than the newer one.

I will play with the other shots as time allows. Thank a lot, tho!

I like post #18 pretty much but has a bit of skin work left I think.

Post #9 & 10 comments along with my offering:
I would say that the skin looks a bit reddish for my taste. I copied it into my program and applied the correct color for skin tone and it gave it a more flesh color rather than a reddish color. It took the edge off the red.

I also did a little band aiding of the skin to include stray hair removal. This is a real nice hip shot of a pretty girl and it deserves more skin smoothing treatment. Some photos the faces are so small it don't matter but here she fills the frame. She deserves having her skin presented in an air brushed magazine cover type fashion. Like the quick attempt in Post #10

I like this crop of yours better. (the original is very nice as well) It has a very hip and trendy in your face look but at the same a time a lovely peaceful face. The following edit I did in about 10 minutes was a 4x6 crop

I selected and sharpened both eyes in turn and also the water swirl just to her left as we view it.

Cool shots like this are worth quite a bit of edit time to maximize the punch from the great material to start with.

Next edit levels the sand "horizon" line for a different look that might even be better than just leveling the pupils - (edit) Yes I now have decided it is better to level the sand "horizon"

This is awful! She looks like living dead. No offense to the living dead or Jcampbelll. My flops are much worse.
