I want you to go look at a lot of guitar pictures. Browse the thumbnails, and maybe click on ones that you find interesting. Think to yourself why you find them interesting. Then take another look at your guitar and try all kinds of angles and perhaps lighting (a desk lamp will do) and really explore your subject. Then post up 3 of what you think are the most interesting images from your experiment.

You are playing to a tough crowd here. We all know you are new to this, and many will be willing to help.

The bush.
What about that bush made you take a picture.
What did you want the viewer to see?
Don't tell me you thought it was interesting. You need to figure out why it is interesting enough to you to take a picture of it.

Oh, and look through the camera manual and figure out how to set the white balance. Put it on Auto for now.

I think everyone has here has hit it on the head. Content is just not interesting. I do see that OP is "interested" in DOF and unfortunately it doesn't make for stunning captures in these examples. But I can understand the excitement for someone that just made the switch to DSLR. Keep experimenting with different subjects.

I thought the bush was interesting in the way it was lined up with the others, i thought it went well with the row, and im gunna go look through the guitar pictures now
Well yeah the bushes i really liked how it was set up with them in a line, and i liked how the depth of field looked with the row
And yeah, im very new, and eve though you guys are a tough crowd, im glad you are giving me advice haha, and the whitebalance settings ive been messing with a little bit as well, but should i just keep it on auto?
Well im gunna go look through the guitar photos
Thankyou alot!

Yup, agreed here ... content is WEAK, very weak. In your guitar picture, you have white balance issues, it's yellow'ish. You can also see your sock and foot in your guitar shot. Your bush picture just suffers from a weak composition too.

Ah, ok.

So you were interested in the repeating pattern. That a compositional element. What really helps is when something breaks that pattern. Worry about that later.

For this image, you didn't really show us the repeating pattern. Basically we see one bush. That's your focal point. It's not very effective. This is where you need to really start looking at what you find interesting and how to best capture it. You need to find a better angle to show the repeating pattern. Perhaps lower and to the left of the first bush?

Also, bitter, what you said about lighting
Would the flash be also usefull?
And Geaux yeah.. haha i gotta figure this out, thankyou : )

Ugh! No! Don't use the pop up flash right now. One thing at a time.

You can play with portable lamps you might have handy to change the direction of the light, or the intensity, to try to create "drama".

You're new. Just experiment for now.

To get better you just need to immerse yourself in it.

Go jump in the bush. Yes, right now.

Okay, so i looked through 34 pages, and decided i wanted to use some of their angles
I really liked the pictures with... i dont know what its called, but when its like along the strings? Or close to the guitar
I tried it, and i hope your not too dissapointed, im also going to try to get my brother to sort of model later, like hold the guitar, and play a song, and ill just take pictures from the perspective of the neck, or the bottom
Well, here they are. .D:

Thats what she said.

Personal lessons from Bitter, take advantage man... take advantage.

One note if I may... your interest in repeating patterns could be useful in your interest in the guitar.

I just noticed this! Yes!
Tomorrow, when its light out ill go experiment more with that, there is also some other colored plants next to them, so if i incorporate those? Or will that throw it all off if i have the repeating pattern, than next to it a plant with color?
Thanks!

Are there repeating patterns on your guitar?
Ohh the frets, yes! i see what your getting at ; )
