My First Dslr (Need Help Choosing My First One)

Hey, so i have finally decide to join the Photography world xD Anyways im new so bare with me if i ask to much questions xD Correct me if im wrong btw
I have taken photo's before but its usually with cellphone camera with bad iq xD its usually all blurry

I have been looking around stores and im having a hard time choosing one, so here are the 2 i am planning to start off with

Nikon D7000/7100(dont see much diffference really..only a little improvement) and the Canon 7D. Kit Lens or Body Only with different lens?

You might think that for a beginner im not required such advance dslr but i just think i rather get a advance and grow on it for 3-5 years learning
than growing out of it 1 years later for a new dslr while i can just buy more lens. Higher Quality will make my learning process easier and motivates me instead of giving up cuz i cant take good photos.

Anyways these 2 camera is a good 500 bucks apart so i would need help from both Nikon/Canon users to give me advice,
i will mainly focus on taking photography's only and i am planning to try everything so nothing specific on what type.

As for lens which one should i get that is light easy to carry around as a beginner? i know L Lens are good but i don't think im ready for that yet as
i want to build my skills first. So nothing overly expensive but $100-300 range

Well you honestly can't go wrong with a D7000/D7100 or a 7D. They are great cameras definitely on the higher end of APS-C bodies. Its up to you, I would ask yourself what type of glass you see yourself investing in? Not much of a difference between the two but most people are either fans of Canon or Nikon and can be compared to those who like Pepsi or those who like Coca-Cola... Both are good.

I would add this... With either camera body, invest in good glass. You will never see the camera's full potential if you don't invest in good glass. I am not saying you have to spend "L" or "N" glass money but don't short change by getting a $100 dollar camera lens... Unless you meant "100-300 range" as the focal length...

Rumors are that the Canon 7D might be replaced soon with a Mark II. I also would say that MOST Nikon users will tell you to go with a Nikon and most Canon users will tell you to go with Canon. My suggestion is to do research and go and play with each camera at Best Buy or somewhere similar. I have a Canon T4i and I love it but I can't bash any Nikon because my experience is limited with them.

I spent 100 on my 50mm. I love it for portraits of my children and find good value in it.

This is like asking which piano you need to start learning how to play. The piano isn't important. You can learn how to play on a cheap beginner keyboard exactly the same as you could on a $100,000 full-sized grand. You can learn photography on the cheapest DSLR, which is not the D7100. I recommend reading my article about how to approach buying a camera on my website. You won't outgrow a D3100 in a year. It sounds like you equate better gear to better pictures. I can get more out of a D3100 than an amateur could with a D3x. I say this only to help you save money. Spend the extra $500 on a lens or education. Your brain is the most important tool. It's your decision but don't expect "more camera" to improve your photography.

Thanks everyone for the advice, i think i might go for the Nikon D7000/7100 instead of the Canon 7D i should be able to save money for better glass.

I am a beginner for god sake, so dont flame me for making some stupid decision and unless your some world top photographer i dont think your in the postion to call anyone a amateur as you were once in my position as a beginner so try putting yourself in my shoes. Im just trying to get the most outta my money and make it worth it, I'll be taking Photography class soon so i should learn quickly.

Now putting that aside is it worth getting the D7100 instead of the D7000? as it is only 200-300 dollar apart and i can prolly spend the extra on a 35/50mm lens?
anyone tried the new d7100 yet but had a 7000 previously, is there any difference? Would it be better to just get the 7000 instead?

Starting out would be happy with even a used body and older like my D90 or used or refurbished D7000.
And get with the 18-105vr. Good learning and walkabout lens.
Throw in the 35mm or 50mm f1.8 for lower light use. And a good Tripod and Flash.

And shoot with that for a year or two. As your experience and needs unroll.
You can then make more informed decision on more expensive investment in higher priced lenses.
Depending on your exact needs and fulfill your style of shooting.

No use spending the extra for the D7100 as not much difference and you won't
be taking advantage of it your first year anyways.

As to the Canon vs. Nikon they are both outstanding system.
My decision came down to ergonomics how they both handled felt and how the buttons and menus are laid out.
For me the Nikon felt more natural and like the menu and button layout better.
Couple that with Nikon had the superior CLS flash system made up my mind at the time for the Nikon.

But you may find the opposite true and is just as valid a decision as mine was. Finding what is right for you.

Good choice! As far as deciding which camera; for 300 dollar difference go for the 7100. It has a much better focusing capability than the 7000.
