I quit my job in August in preparation to start my own business. In the mean time, I was thinking of any way to make some money with what I already have, and uploaded photos onto stock photography site and see what fish bites. Last night I was just checking the site and there it is, ONE sale! I actually never thought any photo will sell. There are trillions of photos on the internet and most of them for free. Even if this is just a quarter it's still something for me to be happy about in the new year.

Are you going to laminate the quarter and frame it?

Don't forget to claim that on your income taxes this year. :biggrin-new:

Well done... your first is always your first! I assume like most micro-stock 'sites, you probably can't even get payment until your account hits a minimum dollar level?

I call shenanigans now. I just noticed the title to this thread is "My first ever $$ made with photography!!!".

It should be "My first ever ¢¢ made with photography!!!"

Hey it's a quarter of a dollar, still a dollar, just a fraction of it!

That said you can be so generous and purchase three more of my uploads and make it a dollar!

I hear there's some serious money to be made in beer and soda can returns these days, now that many states have upped the deposit to a dime per can! At the new rates, a half-rack of empty beer cans fetches a whopping $1.20, and the alcoholic/frat boy/sports fan sized 18-can packs bring, well, $1.80! Maybe something to think about, you know, as the weather improves later in the year????

Hey Molested_cow, congrats and I don't want to sound rude but: Dreamstime and other similar websites are totally scamming photographers.

Had to laugh, till I realized how sad this is. Even without the extra incentive, here you'd only have to pick up 17 cans to equal the $.25 earned for the photo, and you'd get paid right away.

Congrats!

Reminds me of the one share of Ford stock I had at one time. Ford would send me 15 cent dividend checks.

True story: The owner of the local camera store here once got a class-action lawsuit settlement check.

For 3 cents.

Via a 50¢ stamp.

Sounds great! But you gotta fly me over there first to join in the fun!

I didn't take those photos with the intention to sell. It's more like an extra thing for me. Yes I know it should worth more, but better than nothing. If I shot those for money, this will definitely not be the business model that I'd go for.
