Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share a piece in the new series I'm working on of large scale ambrotypes (an 1800's process of photographs printed on glass.) The project features young artists from varying disciplines who have made tangible sacrifices in the pursuit of their craft. This is a self portrait of myself and my business partner/ boyfriend Dan who I am collaborating with for this project. The firing squad scenario we have portrayed ourselves as represents the fear an artist has of being shot down by their critics and peers once they put themselves and their art out there for the world to see. This piece is 20.5 x 23.5 inches in size. These are some of the largest ambrotypes ever made. It is very difficult to make they this large because of the chemicals and process involved in printing. We will soon be completing a series of about 15 large scale 24 x 30 inch ambrotypes and will have an eventual showing of the pieces in NYC or Greenwich CT where we live.

In addition to the large scale ambrotypes we also printed teeny tiny versions! These will be one of the rewards we will be offering in our kickstarter for donations to help us fund our project.

We will be posting updates about our project on our project blog: The "Execution" Project and we are looking for new artist to photograph and feature in our project! If you'd like to be considered for being photographed and being included in our series check out the "become part of the project" section on the blog. We'd love to hear from you!

Thanks so much for looking!

Very nice work!

I'd love to know a bit more about the process and the equipment you use such as holders and sensitizing and developing baths? Do you do them in a tray?
