What's new

My first legit photoshoot--The final Product is here!

I'm guessing she smiles the same in all the pictures because she doesn't like her braces. I have had people like that too.

that could be the case....i do agree

Nice model, some nice shots. I'd go a little bit more aggressive with the editing. Don't be afraid to warm up the tones a bit and soften skin with the blur tool. Also her feet are brighter than her face on the first shot - I tried to fix that with an edit. I also softened the skin a bit and corrected some distortion which made her head look large (pinched with the 'liquify' tool)

looks like she may be self-conscious about the teeth (my guess). Some people don't WANT to smile (and sometimes their crooked teeth are a reason not too). What do you do in a situation like that?

exposure should be easily adjusted in pp.

After my first shoot, I found a million things I should have/could have done better, but she (and you) should be happy with the photos.

they all look a little warm to me.

I can't decide.. I thought the first one looked a bit on the blue side.

They're about right w/b-wise I think.

I did not mention her expressions because it's clear, she has braces and she wants to go with a close-mouthed smile. She is also smiling "with her eyes". Trying to elicit a full-on, open-lipped smile from a young woman with braces is probably a losing effort if she really does NOT wish to be shown that way...

I love all these photos, but I do agree, they are a tad too underexposed for me. I too, like bright pictures. I hope you don't mind, but I brightened the first one up a little bit. Only did it in photoshop. I usually do my brightening in lightroom..But I also sharpened her eyes up a bit. Overall, they look good though!

I like this right here.:thumbup::thumbup:

all i had to work with was a cloudy day and no flash. Sadly, i dont have any flash units yet, im workin on it!

Ahh definitely get a dedicated flash unit as soon as you can. The pictures are *slightly* underexposed but if you had a fill flash you could have had it corrected fairly easy (assuming, of course, that you're shooting in RAW). Missed focus on a few of the shots (focus on the eyes in whatever you camera considers "single point focus" mode).

Otherwise, good shots. I hope this doesn't sound as creepy as I think it does (I don't mean it in a creepy way)...but is there a reason her chest isn't in any shots? I didn't notice it until the final shot (with her back turned) but then I scrolled back up to look...it's as if every shot were composed or cropped to not show her chest at all (either something covering, or *just* cropped out of frame). Once again, I don't mean this in a creepy way...but usually when people take portrait shots of women they try to show off some of their assets. Just a curiousity

NO creepiness inferred....there is a hundreds of years old tradition in Western art...famous portraits of women - Google Search

excellent work for your first shoot! I agree could have upped the ISO a bit, 200 or 400 wouldn't have introduced any noise but would have benefited the product.

i also don't think it takes anything away from the photos that she's not trying to present her 'assets.' how many times have you seen 17-18 year old girls/women OVERpresenting those particular assets... neither classy nor artistic. lot of women draw focus to their bust to distract from flaws. she's a beautiful young woman and there's no need to distract from her gorgeous eyes/face :)

Hey they look very good for your first photoshoot :D
Like everyone says they are under expose a little bit you could have just used a higher iso or even changed the aperture.
But this is all good is a good lesson for your next photoshoot.
Cloudy days are the best because is like if you have a giant softbox with a perfet soft light, the main thing is bring an assistant with a reflector or build a reflector that stands alone, and you photos will be perfect.
Also if I'm not wrong it looks like you added some kind of plugin or effect to make them a little more detailed, maybe try leave it natural and just sharp it a little bit.
Other than that they look great
Good job :D

Huh I never noticed that. I definitely don't think it's a bad thing, was just curious. I definitely agree that those "assets" are shown off much too much in most pictures, was just curious why it seemed to be done on purpose in this (at least it looked that way to me and my strangely logical mind).

Definitely doesn't have a negative impact on the pictures. They're very well done and I can see why she'd be happy with them. As I said the only real "criticism" I would give (but it's barely that) is to pick up a dedicated flash. It can do wonders for getting the lighting you want on the model.

The facial expressions are the same or very similar throughout the session. Know any good jokes? Use 'em if ya got 'em.

Going on what Derrel was eluding to.......

Ok when it comes to photoshop i'm clueless...I like the second picture, the crop and vibrancy of the colors and the sharpness.... but what do you do to make the colors pop like that? ... like the color to stand out, but the dark is a bit darkened...

Good shoot! One tip I might suggest is that you might want a bigger variety of shots. These are all taken relatively near the same distance.. All smiling.. etc.. Try mixing it up! :) well done though.
