I shot this last night with my new D90, 18-200 VR. I shot it handheld at 200 mm. I am pretty happy with it, compared to every other picture I have ever tried taking of the moon with my point and shoots.

Nice shot. I need to practice something like that.

Tripod and turn off AF on the lens. ISO100 F8-11 adjust exposure as needed. hope that helps

also your WB looks off, moon is a little yellow.

nice first try at it!

Thanks, I'll give it a shot!

I'm jealous.
What was the environment around where you shot this - city, suburbs, countryside?

I shot it from my front porch in the suburbs. Funny thing is, it was shot at dusk, so the sky was still a little blue, but with the fast shutter speed, it turned the sky black.
