my first photo's

Hi All

I finally got my D7000 whoppeee. Its my first Dslr and I this weekend I finally took it out for a test run. I didn't use flash with any of the photos but spent the time trying to master the exposure settings iso, apeture and shutter speed. Think for my first attempt of working with an slr in over 10 years I did quite ok but would really appreciate some feedback on how I could improve the shot at exposure level. don't want to get into photoshop at this stage as I'd like to learn the basics first.

I can't help myself (held back saying so all day...!) - but when I read the title of this thread, I keep thinking "my first photo's WHAT???" Sorry about that, do still feel welcome to ThePhotoForum, Jade. And really: go pick some photos from your Photostream and post them right here, so you will get a better response.
