Ok, guys. I got a chance to take the new gear out for a spin. When FedEx finally came, it was pouring, but after my wife got home from work, it cleared, so we went to the park to take some pictures.
I took about 80 shots, and it went pretty well. Since I've done so much reading, whenever there was an issue that I saw in my LCD, I found myself knowing what to do to fix it. The problem was I was having tons of trouble figuring out how to make the necessary adjustments on the camera itself. So, it's time to spend some time with the ol' manual.
Anyway, here's a couple of the shots I liked. C&C would be great.
EDIT: After looking, I'm not thrilled with the second picture. It's super soft, and even though my kid's cute, that doesn't make it a good picture.
I do, however, like this one.
