What's new

My first time lapse.

It ends kind of abruptly...all that build-up and prelude, then the sexy-gal-on-elevated-platform shoot is over in like 5 seconds!!! We want more of a visual payoff, a reward, at the end.

As far as the video....ummm...well, I thought in the first part, the camera focal length might have been a bit too wide-angle; the redheaded makeup/hair lady appeared about 2x as large as the model, due to her being positioned close to a camera set at a fairly wide-angle focal length...the red-haired lady seems to dominate the first segment. In the second segment, the action seems speeded-up a bit, and the red-headed lady's butt seems rather prominent...again...short focal length from close-up versus longer focal length from a bit farther back...I thought the purple-haired gal and her texting and phone call were interesting in that one side of the frame.

Overall, it felt just a wee bit too jerky to me...I don;t know much about time lapse video, but it just felt...'jerky'...not sure exactly why.

Well like I said before this is my first one. That being said I tend to agree with you.

My GF does hair and makeup (the purple haired girl) asked me if I could do timelapse video with my camera. I answered I think my camera does. Then after some googling I found out my camera has a built in interval timer. After reporting back she said she had a shoot in California that she was doing hair for and she'd like a t/l of.

I said sure I'll try it out.

1st clip has a 18 sec interval the 2nd a 9 and finally the 3rd had a 3.

She gave me a very large window an hour to two for each look. That's why I halved the interval on the 2nd; felt too slow on the first one.

As for the last clip after seeing what I was doing the photographer asked me to do one of him as well. So I did a quick one. This whole thing just kind of happened. So I just spliced the clips together. There's no real goal here... mostly practice.

I for sure agree on the focal length though. If I ever do another one I won't be at 18mm

As for it being jerky that was my intent. I didn't want it just to look like a sped up video.

None of these points are excuses just what happened. I do like and thank you for your cc and I mostly agree I think you've helped me for my next one. Might use my 35mm prime.

The best part was bonobo. ;-)

It would have been nice to have ended this when you started shooting for a few shots, then fade it out instead of abruptly stopping. Fun video otherwise.
