Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I got a new camera today, found a smoking deal on a Cannon Rebel XS 1000D with the 18-55mm lens on it at the pawn shop the wife works at. I am planning on doing mostly paintball pictures but I had a little bit of time today to give the new stuff a try. I am hoping to get out longboarding one more time this year and I am going to try some pics of that while I am out. Here are a few of my first shots, please let me know what you think of them and what I need to work on, but be warned I do not know the lingo yet so you are going to have to dumb down stuff for me.

For the most part these have not been retouched other than cropping them. I dont have any photo editing software right now but that should change soon enough

These are just your basic snapshots and let me leave it at that. You are probably going to need to read up on composition and related things. Have a look here: Photography Composition Articles Library . As well, there are a series of web articles on composition that start here: Advanced Composition -- Part I. You will find a link to following articles at the end of the web site. There are, of course, thousands of web sites on photographic composition. If you Google "photography composition" you will get over 30 million hits alone.

I am not sure how you did your black and white conversions, but you should be aware that this is a whole, developing field in digital photography - some would even say that it is an artform all its own. Again, using Google will get you all kinds of information on this subject.

As far as editing and editors go, there are lots of them available for free - Best Free Digital Image Editor and if you are going to buy an editor, then check on applications like Photoshop Elements and Lightroom.

Cheers,

WesternGuy

Thanks for the quick feedback and the links! 99.9% of the pictures I will be taking with this camera will not be stuff I can setup or anything like that as I will be in the middle of active games of paintball, so any other help that anyone can give that will help me out with that kind of shooting would be great
