Just goofing around with gimp, I like the way it came out. Nikon D3300 200mm kit lens. I am trying to get used c to a zoom lens, I usually use prime manual focus glass. I still shuffle around like a goofball. My wife says I dance when I shoot... I take advice.

Speaking of goofing around with software...have you seen Pixlr-o-matic? It has some pretty fun filters,texture overlays, and borders and various effects...I've used it for a number of portraits, and it has some good effects. Pixlr-o-matic - Online Image Editor

I took a handful of images, and systematically applied a number of filters and overlays onto the images, and within a day, had a pretty good idea of what might look good with what type of source material.
